Memorial Services for F. Elaine Carlson will be conducted from the Christian Homes Care Community Chapel at Holdrege, Nebraska on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Chaplain DeWane Dow and Reverend David Sites, officiating. Inurnment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege, prior to the services at 12:30 p.m.

F. Elaine Carlson, 84 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at the Christian Homes Care Community at Holdrege. Florence "Elaine" Carlson was born December 10, 1925 near Sacramento in Phelps County, Nebraska, the youngest of two children of Oscar E. and Laura (Skarin) Youngmark. She received her primary education at the District #10 rural school near Sacramento, and then went to Funk Public School through the tenth grade. Elaine then graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1943.

On December 10, 1944, she was united in marriage on her birthday to Earl Edward Carlson and to this union one son, David was born. The family made their home in Holdrege, where Elaine was employed by the Hamburger Inn, the Holdrege Creamery, the Lucky Grill, and Pearson's Liquor Store. Elaine loved children and enjoyed babysitting in her home for over twenty years. Later in years, Elaine enjoyed being a hostess at the Taste of Country and prior to retirement she worked in food service at the Holdrege Public Schools. On November 28, 2008 she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl.

She was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church, where she was active with the women's ministries serving group, sang in the choir and weddings as well. Elaine was also a member of the Martin Horn American Legion Post #66 Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her yard, flowers, and vegetables. She was an excellent cook and most of all loved supporting and volunteering her time working with children's sports.

She leaves to mourn her passing her son, David Carlson of Holdrege; sister-in-law, Edith Youngmark of Holdrege and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her husband, Earl and her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bernard Youngmark; and sisters-in-law: Pearl Anderson and her husband, Paul and Leona Lyon and her husband, Milburn.

There will be no visitation, the family is honoring her wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in her memory and will be designated at a later date.
