Memorial Services for Eldon G. Watson will be conducted from the First United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 18, 2007 at 5:00 p.m. with Reverend Buck Linton-Hendrick, officiating. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
Eldon Glenn Watson, 77 years of age, of Loomis, Nebraska (formerly of Holdrege) passed away on Friday, August 10, 2007 at his home in Loomis. Eldon was born August 18, 1929 on the family farm near Brush, Colorado, the youngest of four children of Brewster Thomas and Orpha Mae (Short) Watson. He received his education from Yuma, Colorado, graduating from Yuma High School with the class of 1947.
Following his education he was a floor-covering technician in Denver, Colorado and later owned and operated Furniture and Floor Covering businesses in Yuma; McCook, Nebraska; North Platte, Nebraska and later Holdrege.
In 1950 he was united in marriage to Patricia Ruth Heartwell and to this union four children were born: Michael, David, Rian and Penny. Eldon and Pat raised their family in Holdrege, where Eldon operated Watson Furniture. After selling the furniture business, Eldon owned and operated Carpets Wholesale until his retirement. In 1989, Eldon moved to Loomis, where he worked in maintenance at the Sunny Side Acres.
Eldon enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing in his younger years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege and member of the Elks Lodge in Holdrege.
He leaves to mourn his passing his three sons: Michael Watson of Lincoln, Nebraska; David Watson and his wife, Sheila of Shawnee, Kansas and Rian Watson and his wife, Kim of Las Vegas, Nevada; one daughter, Penny Hedges and her husband, Clint of Englewood, Colorado; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Merle Watson of Boulder, Colorado; one sister, Colleen Twedell of Aurora, Colorado; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Max Watson and a nephew, Stephen Watson.
There will be no visitation, the family is honoring Eldon's wishes of cremation.
