Celebration of Life Services for Elly (Olson) Jeffery will be held on Monday, November 11, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Paul Bauman officiating. Interment will be held at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege, following services.
Elly Jenay (Olson) Jeffery, 42 years of age, of Bertrand, Nebraska, (originally of West Point, Nebraska), passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Elly was born September 27, 1977, at West Point, the eldest of four children to Allan L. and Renee R. (Gentrup) Olson. She received her primary education from the Guardian Angels Elementary School at West Point, and then attended Central Catholic at West Point, graduating with the class of 1995. Elly then pursued higher education at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Finance in 2000.
Following her education, Elly began a career in Accounting with Peter Kiewit in Pittsburg, California, until transferring with the company to Denver, Colorado. She then moved to Hayden, Colorado, and accepted a position at Steamboat Resort. While living in Colorado with her first marriage, Elly was blessed with her son, Nicholas Peter Girty.
Then she met the love of her life, Andrew "A.J." Jeffery, and the couple was united in marriage on June 9, 2018 at the Immanuel Church on the grounds of the Nebraska Prairie Museum at Holdrege by Pastor Paul Bauman. They made their home at Bertrand, and with this union they bonded two families together caring for their children. Besides being a loving mother, wife, and daughter; Elly had a career as the Office Manager at Janssen Chevrolet in Holdrege, and also supported her husband, A.J. with his business, Jeffery Consulting.
Elly was a strong young woman, who was loving and determined to care for the needs of others before her own. She touched the lives of others in a very significant way and was the "Rock" in their lives. She had a strong faith, believed in God and prayer, and the family thought of her as "A Touch of Heaven." She always lived by the words, "Being a mother is learning about strengths that you didn't know you had, and dealing with fears you didn't know existed." She always searched for inspirational ways to make her the best she could be, and an example of this is a quote that she focused on "If you have the chance to make people happy, just do it. Sometimes people are struggling silently. Maybe, your act of kindness can make their day." Her children were the light of her life!
Elly's hobbies included quilting, beading, reading, and hiking. Anything that involved the kids was great joy to her as well! She was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Arvid and Roberta Olson and Hilary and Helen Gentrup; grandparents-in-law: Wes and Lenore Gustafson, Eric and Janet Jeffery; cousin-in-law, Abraham Gustafson; and her aunt, Deanne Olson.
Elly leaves to celebrate her life; her husband, AJ Jeffery of Bertrand; her children: Nicholas Peter Girty; Elizabeth Jane Jeffery; McKenzie Marie Jeffery; Matthew James Jeffery; and Ronan Dowd; her parents: Allan and Renee Olson of West Point; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Rick and Julie Jeffery of Holdrege; two brothers: Justin Olson and his wife, Alisha of Bellevue, Nebraska; and Jacob Olson and his wife, Alicia of West Point; one sister, Briana Olson and her special friend, Matt Dick of Osmond, Nebraska; sisters-in-law: Kristin Benjamin and her husband, Trent of North Platte, Nebraska; and Tiffany Mohs and her husband, Jacob of Ashland, Nebraska; nieces and nephews: Liviana, Paxton, Adyson, Makenzie, Tori, Bailey, Archer, Rorke, Nolan, Skylar, Landon, Mason, and Callie; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
