Funeral Services for Emmanuel D. "Pinky" Allen will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Alma, Nebraska with Pastor Curtis Pfeil officiating.  Interment will be held in the Alma Cemetery at Alma.

Emmanuel Dean "Pinky" Allen, 82 years of Hastings, Nebraska (formerly of Alma, Nebraska) passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at the Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings.  Emmanuel was born August 12, 1934, at Alma, the eldest of two children born to Roy Edward and Helen Margaret (Ingmire) Allen.  Pinky was baptized at the Assembly of God Church in Alma as a youth.  He received his primary education from Ontario, California, and then relocated to Alma, where he attended grades first through fifth.  The family then moved to Anderson, Missouri, where Pinky attended sixth and seventh grades and then the family returned to Alma.  He completed his education at the Alma Public Schools, graduating from Alma High School with the class of 1952.

On June 5, 1953 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Ann Apple at Duenweg, Missouri and to this union five children were born:  Stuart Lynn, Vicki Lane, Mark Edward, Connie Marlene and Bendera Ann.  The family began to make their home in Joplin, Missouri for the first five years of their marriage.  In 1958, they moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where they resided until 1969 when they moved to Alma.  Pinky had been employed in electrical production while they lived in Joplin and then worked in the construction field in Phoenix.  Back in Nebraska, Pinky continued his career in construction.  He was employed by Nebraska Public Power District in the Alma Power Plant.  In 1986, he transferred to the City of Alma, and remained there until his retirement.  They resided in Alma for 43 years before moving to the Hastings Homestead Assisted Living in July of 2012.

He was a member of Melrose A.A. from 1993 until moving to Hastings.  Pinky was also well known within the Alma School System for his work with the Green Thumb program.  Throughout the years, he could often be found tending to his large garden on the corner of South and East Streets in Alma.  On October 26, 2012 he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis.

Besides his wife, Phyllis and his parents; Pinky was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki in 1980; one sister, Ruth Ann Allen at the age of 12; and six brothers-in-law:  Rudolph Apple and his wife, Dorothy, Guy, Donald, Richard and William Apple and Ray Adamson.

Pinky leaves to celebrate his life; his two sons:  Stuart Allen of Trumbull, Nebraska and Mark Allen and his wife, Angela of Roseland, Nebraska; two daughters:  Connie Christensen and her husband, Brent of Holdrege and Bendera DeBusk and her husband, Michael of Hastings; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law:  Janelle Adamson of Kansas City, Missouri, Shirley Apple and Peggy Apple both of Mesa, Arizona and Bonnie Apple of Overland Park, Missouri; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Alma.

A memorial has been established in Pinky's honor and will be designated at a later date.
