Funeral Services for Ervin R. Rademaker will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Rev. Jan Gluth King officiating. Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege, with Military Honors provided by the Loomis Veteran's Organization in conjunction with the United States Army Funeral Honors Team.
Ervin Reint Rademaker, 101 years of age, of Holdrege, formerly of the Rock Falls Township, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2020, at Holdrege Memorial Homes. Ervin was born December 17, 1918, in Princeton, Nebraska, the second of six children to Reint and Louise (Schmale) Rademaker. He was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Halem, Nebraska. Later in life, he joined the Bethel Lutheran Church in 1948. Ervin received his education at District #42 Country School, near the Rock Falls Township.
On February 11, 1942, Ervin was inducted into active service at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and served during World War II in Scotland, North Africa, Italy, and France. He was awarded six battle stars and rode six ships. He was honorably discharged on October 12, 1945.
On February 14, 1948, he was united in marriage to Georgina Mae Mohr in Holdrege and to this union four children were born: Gerald Lee, Byron Lee, Doyle Ervin and Jeanne Mae. Ervin made his home in the Rock Falls community, west of Atlanta, Nebraska, most of his farming life until his retirement in 1984.
Throughout the years, Ervin enjoyed being involved with his children's activities and then his grandchildren's activities. During retirement, he enjoyed playing cards with his buddies; driving to the farm; and helping and viewing the crops and cattle.
Ervin was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church; the Loomis American Legion Post #338; served as a Committeeman for the ASCS Office; and had the opportunity to attend the Hero Flight, to see the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. in 2009.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; brother, Alven Rademaker; four sisters: Mabel (Chuck) Margurites; Hazel (Frank) Abraham; and twins: Doris (Robert) Church and Dorothy (Clarence) Hopper.
Ervin leaves to celebrate his life; his wife of 72 years, Georgina Rademaker of Holdrege; three sons: Gerald Rademaker of rural Bertrand, Nebraska; Byron Rademaker of rural Bertrand; and Doyle Rademaker and his wife, Pam of Holdrege; one daughter, Jeanne Smith and her husband, John of Omaha, Nebraska; four grandchildren: Tara Smith; Blake Rademaker; Tanner Smith; and Brock Rademaker; two sisters-in-law: LoDema Ivey and her husband, John of Holdrege; and Delores Rademaker of Holdrege; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in Ervin's honor, and kindly suggested to the family.
