Eugene "Gene" E. Brown

A memorial graveside service for Eugene E. Brown will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Nebraska with Pastor Jean Clayton officiating.

Eugene E. Brown, age 64 of York, NE passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024, in York. He was born on March 29, 1960 to Lloyd E. and Carlen L. (Schleicher) Brown.

He joined Carlen's daughter Debbie and had three younger siblings. Kandy, Jimmy and Vicky. Growing up being on his grandparents farm with his siblings and cousins was one of this favorite things to do and remained some of his fondest memories. He grew up in Furnas County and attended Oxford schools.

In 1985 he was united in marriage to Tamara (Tami) Bourelle in Holdrege, NE. To this union three children were born Kacie, Dustin and Kaela. Raising his children was one of his biggest accomplishments. He loved being a Papa to his grandkids, nothing made him more proud.

Gene enjoyed collecting numerous things and going to garage sales and thrift stores. He enjoyed fishing and was known for getting turtles off the roadways, his family always knew to "hang on" if there was a turtle on the road. He loved most animals and instilled this in his children.

He worked numerous jobs in his life from construction to car detailing with the most recent being landscaping before his health began to decline.

He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother Jimmy, and nephew Mitchell.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Tami of York. Daughter Kacie (Dennis) Castillo of York, Son Dustin of York. Daughter Kaela of Lincoln. Daughter Jamie (Shawn) of Bristow NE, Son Adam of Northwood, IA, Son Matt (Stacey) Creston, IA. Grandchildren: Nikkolas, Emma and Gracie Castillo of York NE. Lukus Craig, Konner and Raigen Lacefield of Lincoln NE. Tessia and Dezirae Fox of Bristow, NE. Emerald (Travis) of Verdigre, NE, Kuireanna of Bristow, NE. Jaidyn Thompson of Northwood, IA. Kyria and Mykelti Thompson of Creston, IA. One great-grandson Kash of Verdigre, NE. Sisters Debbie (Steve) Monter of Cambridge, NE Kandy Brown of Bartley, NE. Vicky (Pat) Hewitt of Phillipsburg, KS. Sisters and brothers-in-law Dawn(Doug) Marlett of Hays, KS, Sonja (Brian) Taylor of Holdrege. Father and mother-in-law: Richard (Paula) Bourelle of Holdrege, NE. Nieces, nephews, cousins, an aunt, and other relatives and friends.

There will be no visitation or memorial book signing. The family is honoring Gene's wish for cremation.

Memorials in Gene's honor are suggested to the family for later designation.
