Funeral Services for Eunice E. Woodle will be conducted from the North Park Assembly of God Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Alex Brodine, officiating. Interment will be in the Elm Creek Cemetery at Elm Creek, Nebraska at 3:30 p.m.

Eunice Ellen (Barta) Woodle, 73 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Eunice was born May 25, 1935 at Tilden, Nebraska, the second of five children of Joseph and Ruth Adeline (Roby) Barta. She received her primary education in rural Dawson County at District #43 and then graduated from Sumner High School at Sumner, Nebraska with the class of 1952.

On June 12, 1952 she was united in marriage to Bernard Fay Swearingen at Lexington, Nebraska and to this union six sons were born: Dennis, Randy, Jerry, Terry, Michael and Timothy. The family made their home in the Elm Creek area, where Eunice was employed by Balwin Manufacturing in Kearney, and for Bethphage Mission in Axtell and Holdrege as a direct support manager. She also worked in McCook, Nebraska for Southwest Training Services as a residential manager. Later in years, Eunice was employed by the Holdrege Public Schools in the custodial department. On June 26, 1981 she was united in marriage to Roy Woodle. Roy preceded her in death on February 14, 2004.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Holdrege. Eunice served as past Trustee and Treasurer of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #2062 in Holdrege and was currently serving as the Lecturing Knight, she was a member of the Does Drove, member and Trustee of the Eagles Auxillary, and member of the resident organization of the Sunrise View Apartments, where she served as Treasurer the past two years. Eunice enjoyed reading, crocheting and embroidery. She loved babysitting for her grandchildren, enjoyed playing bingo with her friends and spending time on her computer. She loved attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sporting events, enjoyed the friendship bonds formed in card club and most of all, Eunice looked forward to spending time with her family.

She leaves to mourn her passing her five sons: Dennis Swearingen and his wife, Clara, Randy Swearingen and his wife, Trixie all of Holdrege, Terry Swearingen and his wife, Becky of Kearney, Michael Swearingen of Holdrege and Timothy Swearingen and his wife, Robin of Columbus, Nebraska; seven grandchildren: Paul Swearingen and his wife, Crystal, Victoria Johnston and her husband, Rob, Travis Schriner, Amber Schriner, Brandon Swearingen, Jesse Swearingen all of Holdrege and Kallie Swearingen of Columbus; thirteen great-grandchildren: Cierra and Hanna, Anastazia, Caleb, Tyler, Stephan and Dallen, Shelly and Elise, Yulina, Austin, Mariah and Adalee Ellen; two sisters: Lois Popple and her husband, Max of Axtell and Geraldine Thies and her husband, Richard of Kearney; one brother, Darrell Barta and his wife, Sherry of Sumner; brother-in-law, Mac Brown of Kearney; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her husband, Roy she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jerry at the age of nine and one sister, Irma Brown.

Eunice will lie in state at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

A memorial has been established in her memory and kindly suggested to the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.
