Funeral Services for Evelyn M. Dodson will be conducted from the First Baptist Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Friday, May 11, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Dr. Gary Winget and Chaplain Jean Clayton, officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
Evelyn Maxine Dodson, 85 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at the Holdrege Memorial Homes. She was born May 12, 1921 at Holdrege, the eldest daughter of Dewey Franklin and Jessie Eva (Martin) Tupper. She received her education at Holdrege, graduating from Holdrege High School with the class of 1940.
On September 28, 1940 she married Clarence George Johnson and to this union two daughters were born: Phyllis Lee and Alice Ann. Clarence preceded her in death on June 5, 1963 following a long battle with cancer.
In August of 1965 she was united in marriage to Duane Ellsworth "Zeke" Dodson. On November 20, 2000 she was preceded in death by Zeke.
Mrs. Dodson was a housewife until her daughters were in school and then worked for Christian Homes, Ben Franklin, Erickson Electric, IGA and finally Becton-Dickinson until her retirement.
She leaves to mourn her passing her daughters: Phyllis Bergstrom and her husband, Donald of Funk, Nebraska and Alice Johnson of McLean, Virginia; three grandchildren: David Keyser and his wife, Loretta, Donald Keyser and his wife, Pam all of Stanley, Virginia and Deborah Headman of Luray, Virginia; five great-granddaughters: Katie Keyser, Morgan and Devan Wright, Allison "A.J.' Headman and Evelyn Maria Keyser; two sisters: Lucille Nolte and her husband, Bill of Holdrege and Leola Huff and her husband, Dale of Kearney, Nebraska and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; two granddaughters: Rhonda Leigh and Deann Sue Bergstrom and a nephew, Billie Dean Nelson.
Mrs. Dodson will lie in state at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Thursday, May 10, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
A memorial has been established in her memory and suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
