Celebration of Life Service for Everett D. Breiner will be conducted from the Westmark Evangelical Free Church in rural Loomis, Nebraska on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Mike Hellum, officiating. Military Honors will be provided at the church by the United States Army Military Honors Team. Following the traditional funeral, cremation will take place and a private family inurnment will be held at a later date at the Sandstrom Cemetery in rural Phelps County, Nebraska.
Everett Dallas Breiner, 88 years of age, of Bertrand, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 at the Cozad Care and Rehabilitation Center in Cozad, Nebraska. Everett was born July 22, 1929 at Macomb, Illinois, the younger of two children born to Everett Lamont and Ellen Ruth (Dorothy) Breiner. Everett received his education from Roseville, Illinois, where he graduated from Roseville High School with the class of 1947.
Following his education, he was inducted into the United States Army, serving his country during the Korean Conflict as a tank commander from April 10, 1951 until his honorable discharge on April 9, 1953. Everett then began a long career in the cattle business. On January 20, 1957, Everett was united in marriage to Emma Jean Morris at her mother's home. To this union three children were born: Diane, Howard and David. The couple made their home in Illinois, before moving West. Everett was feedlot foreman in Hanover, Illinois until a transfer to Iowa. He was then employed in Atkinson, Nebraska, Lexington, Nebraska for several years and then went on work in Missouri and Kansas, before retiring in Bertrand in 2000. On November 19, 2011, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Jean.
In his younger years, Everett was an avid hunter and carpenter, and later when grandchildren came along they were the highlight of Grandpa's life. He was a member of the Westmark Evangelical Free Church, and the American Legion.
Besides his parents, and wife, Emma Jean; Everett was preceded in death by son-in-law, Jim Grigsby; a one sister, Rosie Rowlan, and her husband, Vern; half-sister, Camille O'Rourke; and brother-in-law, Harold Lester.
Everett leaves to celebrate his life; his three children: Diane Fullerton of Bertrand; Howard Breiner and his wife, Sharon of Mount Sterling, Kentucky; David Breiner and his wife, Melita of Vallejo, California; 11 grandchildren: 7 great-grandchildren; and in addition he is survived by a brother-in-law, Richard Morris and his wife, Margaret of Erie, Illinois; sister-in-law, Mary Lester of Princeton, Illinois; a nephew who was like a son to Everett; Bruce Breiner of Summersville, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service on Wednesday.
A memorial has been established in Everett's honor, and will be designated at a later date.
