Faye Anna Peterson, 91 years of age, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2012 at Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. Faye was born August 18, 1921, on a farm near Atlanta, Nebraska, the fourth of six children of Adolph Walter and Ethel Belle (Johnston) Urbom. She was baptized at the age of three months at the Atlanta Methodist Church.

Faye attended the District 46 "Graft" school in Harlan County through the seventh grade. Her family later moved to a farm near Mascot, Nebraska, where she graduated from high school in 1939. In July, of 1939, she began her cosmetology studies at Hastings Beauty Academy. She returned to Holdrege after earning her license and began work as a hair dresser before purchasing the Fernette Beauty Salon. Those were fun-filled years.

Faye was married on August 6, 1944, to Willard Eugene Peterson while he was serving in the U.S. Army, stationed in Omaha. She joined the Bethel Lutheran Church upon her marriage to Willard and to this union five children were born: Connie Ann, Dennis Gene, Kurt Warren, Trudi Faye, and Liane Marie. Faye and Willard hosted two foreign exchange students, Manfred Tuecke from Germany and Marcia Pardo from Chile.

Faye owned and operated her beauty shop for several years. After retiring from self employment and after taking time off to raise her children, she returned to her work as a hair dresser in the 1970s, working for her niece, Shirley (Linder) Boersen. She then worked ten more years in the beauty shop at Holdrege Memorial Homes. Following her hair dressing career, she worked ten years as a merchandiser for American Greetings Cards and followed that with ten years doing private ironing to complete her working years. Faye's hobbies were reading, having friends and entertaining.

Faye was active in all of her children's activities. Those activities included Band Mothers, serving as Chair; Boy Scouts and Blue Birds, as a leader; 4-H, as a leader; Silver Thimble Extension Club; and the County Extension Council serving as a County Chair. As an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church, she was in Luther Lads and Lassies, Circle, the serving group and Bible study.

Faye became a permanent resident of Christian Homes in January of 2009 and received loving care from all members of the staff during her residency there.

Faye is survived by her daughters: Connie Jacobson and her husband, Larry, and Trudi Frisell and her husband, Steve, all of Holdrege, and Liane Connelly and her husband, Jay of Norfolk, Nebraska, sons, Dennis Peterson of Broomfield, Colorado, and Kurt Peterson of Littleton, Colorado, seven grandchildren: Bart Jacobson and his wife, Debra of Funk, Nebraska; Chadd Jacobson and his wife, Kristine, of Holdrege; Vicky McNiel and husband, Ron of Firth, Nebraska; Andrea McAllister and husband, Jason of Hill City, Kansas; Alec Frisell of Holdrege; Blake Connelly and his wife, Sarah of Omaha; and Krista Connelly of Hutchinson, Kansas; seventeen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Eugene Urbom and his wife, Mildred of Overton, Nebraska; one brother-in-law, Richard Peterson of Holdrege; and a host of other relatives and friends.
