Funeral Services for Fern L. Dietz will be conducted from the Evangelical Free Church of Oxford, Nebraska on Friday, October 5, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Wes Holen, officiating. Interment will be in the Oxford Cemetery.

Fern Louise Dietz, 64 years of age, of Oxford, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. Fern was born February 20, 1943 at Oxford, the eldest of four children of Vern and Marjorie (Stump) Park. Fern grew up in Oxford, where she received her education.

On November 5, 1957 she was united in marriage to Larry L. Dietz and to this union five children were born: Jimmy Lee, Edward Eugene, Ricky Gene, Steven Ray and Sharyl Louise. The family made their home in Oxford, where Fern was employed in various jobs throughout her life. She was employed as a waitress at the Oxford Café, worked in environmental services at Walker Post Manor, employed by Better Buys and lastly worked at Becton-Dickinson in Holdrege. Throughout the years, Fern also provided babysitting for several Oxford families. Many of the children she cared for loved her dearly and called her "Mom".

Fern and Larry lived in various locations during their lives, as Larry worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad. They resided in Greeley and Brighton, Colorado. Following retirement from the railroad, the couple enjoyed returning back home to Oxford. Fern was a loving, caring, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be dearly missed.

Fern enjoyed music, bingo, playing cards and talking on the phone to friends. She also enjoyed cruising around town, checking on all of her kids and also keeping an eye on Larry.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Larry of Oxford; mother, Marjorie Park of Greeley, Colorado; one son, Jimmy Lee Dietz of Oxford; one daughter, Sharyl Louise Mondt of Holdrege; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers: Jerry Park and his wife, Pam and Ed Park and his wife, Geri all of Greeley, Colorado; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her three sons: Steven, Rick and Ed; her father, Vern Park; one brother, James Douglas Park; and her grandparents.

Fern will lie in state at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford on Thursday, October 4, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

A memorial has been established in her memory.
