Funeral Services for Florence L. Strobl will be conducted from the Presbyterian Church in Orleans, Nebraska on Friday, November 10, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. with Mr. Neal Collins, officiating. Interment will be in the Red Cloud Cemetery at Red Cloud, Nebraska at 2:00 p.m.

Florence Loretta Strobl, 97 years of age, of Edgar, Nebraska (formerly of Orleans, Nebraska) passed away on Monday, November 6, 2006 at the Memorial Hospital in Aurora, Nebraska. Florence was born May 14, 1909 at Red Cloud, the eldest of three children of Peter and Flora (Emerton) McIntosh. She received her education at Red Cloud and Cowles, Nebraska. Following her education she was united in marriage to Peter Strobl on February 9, 1930 and to this union five children were born: Roger, Sharlet, Rodney, Linda and Marcy. The family made their home in Red Cloud until moving to Fairfield, Nebraska and later Clay Center, Nebraska. In 1960 they moved to Orleans, where Florence was employed as a caretaker in a nursing home, was well known for caring for many children of the community and worked in a restaurant. In February of 1990 she was preceded in death by her husband, Pete.

Florence enjoyed spending her free time doing embroidery, cooking and spending time with her family was first and foremost in her life, especially the family gatherings. One of the highlights in her life was getting to see the Lawrence Welk show.

She leaves to mourn her passing her four children: Sharlet Ham and her husband, Bud of Clay Center, Nebraska, Rodney Strobl and his wife, Peggy of Clay Center, Nebraska, Linda Neubauer and her husband, Dennis of Alma, Nebraska and Marcy Gieber and her husband, John of Ogden, Kansas; eleven grandchildren: Deb Keasling and her husband, Gene, Terri Furman and her husband, Pat, Jason Strobl and his wife, Heather, Aaron Strobl and his wife, Mickie, Brad Strobl and his wife, Shannon, Melissa Monahan and her husband, Joel, Brian Neubauer and his wife, Stacy, Marlo Shepard and her husband, Robert, Johnny Gieber and his wife, Pam, Dana Olson and her husband, Charles and Dennie Gieber and his wife, Nicole; twenty-one great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mabel Mitzelfelt and her husband, Ed of Red Cloud and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Roger in infancy; granddaughter, Denise Neubauer; a great-granddaughter in infancy; brother, Floyd McIntosh; and sister, Gladys Sidlo and her husband, Floyd.

Mrs. Strobl will lie in state at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Orleans on Thursday, November 9, 2006 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

A memorial has been established in her memory.
