Floretta Marie "Ty" Thomsen, 87 years of age, of Lincoln, Nebraska left this life on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at her home in Lincoln, due to complications of Alzheimer's disease.  She was born November 30, 1927, the eldest of eight children to Harvey and Florence (Blue) Chapman in Trenton, Nebraska. Ty graduated from Trenton High School with the class of 1945.  Following graduation, she was employed by Western Union.

She would meet her future husband, Delynn "Hans" Thomsen, while she was home recovering from a ruptured appendix. The couple were united in marriage on September 11, 1948. They resided in many locations throughout the Midwest as Hans moved with employment opportunities with the railroad. In 1981, they retired to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas to enjoy the moderate climate and golf. Later, they moved to Springfield, Missouri to be closer to family. In 2009, following the death of her husband, she began to make her home at Country House Residences in Lincoln.

Ty enjoyed social events, playing cards, crafts, sewing, cooking, gardening and always took pride in her home. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and was active with women's circles and served as an Extraordinary Minister within her church.

She leaves to mourn her passing her four children: Mary Slupikowski of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Kathy Clem of Nevada, Missouri, Sue Baumhover and her husband, Mike of Ames, Iowa and Tim Thomsen and his wife, Marge of La Veta, Colorado; 11 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; two brothers: Jim Chapman of Peru, Indiana and Tom Chapman of Ashland, Nebraska; three sisters:  Catherine Reiners of McCook, Nebraska, Pat Lafferty of Lincoln, Nebraska and Shirley Rine of Waverly, Nebraska.

Besides her husband of 60+ years, Hans Thomsen, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William Chapman; sister, Barb Pantenburg; and sons-in-law: Jim Slupikowski and Kevin Clem.
