Floyd Edward Lashley, 70 years of age, of Bertrand, Nebraska, passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer on December 14, 2022, at his home with family by his side. He was born January 21, 1952, in Alliance, Nebraska, the third of 11 children born to Charles F. Sr. and Nora Mae (Howlett) Lashley. Growing up the family moved numerous times throughout western Nebraska and Wyoming including Brady, Sunol, and Scottsbluff. Following his sophomore year in high school, he started working full-time helping his parents on the family farm and for various farmers to support his family.

On November 12, 1971, at the age of 19, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Floyd served in the Vietnam War and was stationed on the U.S.S. Blue Ridge off the coast of Japan and Vietnam along with his older brother Roy. He was discharged on February 22, 1973.

Floyd has worked in various places and jobs throughout his life but ultimately enjoyed his time as a professional truck driver, driving long haul for several companies.

After living in Texas around El Paso in the early 1990s, Floyd decided to return to Nebraska and settled in the Bertrand area. He was employed at IBP in Lexington as a mechanic then returned to trucking. In 2004, he retired from being an over-the-road trucker and was employed in the Lexington area as a driver for local companies.

On New Year's Eve 2004 he met the love of his life, Beverly, and they were united in marriage on July 9, 2005, at Immanuel Lutheran Church at the Nebraska Prairie Museum in Holdrege.

Through the past 17 years, they have enjoyed traveling to both coasts to visit family as well as south to Texas. Several of these trips traveling included Bev's mother Marian. Floyd enjoyed working on classic cars and overhauling motors. He took pride in his and Beverly's garden at the shop and they shared their harvest with families and organizations throughout Bertrand and Holdrege over the years.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by; four brothers: Gary Lashley, Sr.; Charles Lashley Jr.; Dale Lashley Sr.; and Carl Lashley; brother-in-law, William Hood; two sisters-in-law: Starr Lashley and Donna Hart; nephew, Gary Lashley Jr.; great-niece, Marisol Arellano.

He leaves to celebrate his life; his devoted wife, Beverly of Bertrand; two step-sons: Scott Nelson and his wife, Jackie of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Jeff Nelson of Joshua, Texas; two step-grandchildren; Samantha Edmead of Rochester Hills, Michigan and Travis Edmead of Australia; three brothers: Roy Lashley Sr. and his wife, Sarah of Charleston, West Virginia; Roger Lashley, Sr. of Oxford, Nebraska; and Walter Lashley of Swanton, Nebraska; three sisters: Linda Hood of El Paso; Nora Jean Hodges and her husband, Frank Jr. of El Paso; and Sharon Smith of Hobbs, New Mexico; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Brenda Johnson of Holdrege; Beverly's nephews:  Justin Johnson and wife, Jackie and their children:  Johnny, Jameson, and Jaelyn; and Shane Johnson and wife, Kristen and their children:  Ava and Tripp; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
