Frances "Fran" J. Bruning, 84 years of age, of Oxford, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2008 at the Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege, Nebraska. Memorial Graveside Services will be held at a later date in the summer at the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Beaver City, Nebraska. Publication of services will be announced at a later date.

Frances Jean "Fran" Bruning was born January 28, 1924 at Western, Nebraska, the second of three children of Dr. Raymond and Lucille (Pettygrove) Hergenrother. Fran received her education at Western, Nebraska and later Oxford. Following her education she was united in marriage to Jack H. Guthrie in 1940 and to this union one son, Jack R. Guthrie was born. The family made their home in Omaha, Nebraska.

On November 13, 1943 she was united in marriage to Arch H. Dusenberry and to this union two children were born Lana and Roxane. The family made their home in Oxford, where Fran was employed by Dr. Evans for several years. Later in years, following her graduation from beauty school she operated her own beauty salon in Oxford. Following Arch's death she was united in marriage to John C. Bruning in September of 1974. The couple made their home north of Bloomington, Nebraska where they raised racing thoroughbred horses. Later in years, Fran was employed as a caregiver for Mid-Nebraska Individual Services until her retirement. On October 26, 1996 she was preceded in death by her husband, John.

Fran was very artistic, enjoyed drawing and painting. She loved all kinds of music and had a special place in her heart for all animals, especially horses and dogs. Her kind heart and great sense of humor will always be remembered by family and friends.

She leaves to mourn her passing her two daughters: Lana Tripe and her husband, Bob of Orleans, Nebraska and Roxane Wolzen and her husband, Dennis of Oxford; one son, Jack R. Guthrie and his wife, Beverly of Lincoln, Nebraska; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; one great-grandchild; and two brothers: Raymond and Glen Hergenrother.

There will be no visitation, the family is honoring Fran's wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in her memory.
