Frances Krohn

Funeral Services for Frances Krohn will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Murray Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

Frances Krohn, 93 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Mt. Carmel Home Keens Memorial in Kearney, Nebraska. Frances was born on February 23, 1923 on the family farm south of Holdrege in Harlan County, Nebraska, the youngest of two children born to James Francis and Dora M. (McNiel) Norman. She received her primary education from Ragan Public School and then attended Sacramento Public School until 10 ^th grade. She then transferred to Holdrege High School, graduating with the class of 1940.

On February 4, 1942, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Virgil Krohn in Phelps County, Nebraska at her parent's home and to this union one son, Frank was born. The family made their home north of Holdrege on the family farm, where Frances worked alongside Virgil, helping with the farming operation and raising cattle and hogs. In 1975, Virgil and Frances began to make their home in Holdrege. Virgil preceded her in death on July 22, 2005.

Frances was a past member of the Holcomb Evangelical Free Church and then transferred her membership to Trinity Evangelical Free Church, where she was active in bible study and the ladies circle. She was also a past 4-H leader. Frances enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking and canning, and will be fondly remembered for her immaculate flowers surrounding her home. She also enjoyed tending to her garden for many years.

Besides her parents and husband, Virgil; Frances was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Johnson.

She leaves to celebrate her life; her son, Frank Krohn of Holdrege; two grandsons: Nick Krohn of Holdrege and Joseph Krohn of Lincoln, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Frances' honor and will be designated at a later date.
