Funeral Services for Frederick K. Klotthor will be conducted from the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastors Murray Jones and Duane Lauber, officiating. Interment will be held in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

Frederick Kenneth "Fred" Klotthor, 93 years of age, of Republican City, Nebraska, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at the Colonial Villa Good Samaritan Center in Alma, Nebraska. Fred was born on October 21, 1916 at Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Carl F. and Caroline B. (Stephenson) Klotthor. He received his education at rural schools in Gosper and Phelps Counties and then engaged in farming at an early age.

On October 6, 1936 he was united in marriage to Jessie E. Rankin in Denver, Colorado and to this union seven children were born: Robert, Barbara, Jim, Floyd, Clyde, Doug and Cheryl. The family engaged in farming in South Central Nebraska until moving to La Crescenta, California in 1956. While in California, Fred was employed by the City of Glendale until his retirement in 1980. In 1987, Fred and Jessie returned to Nebraska, making their home in Republican City. Fred gave his heart to the Lord as a young man. He has been a devout Christian, a wonderful caring family man and friend.

He was a member of the Naponee, Nebraska Wesleyan Church.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert; great-grandson, Curtis Anthony Klotthor; one half-sister, Emily Scherer and three half-brothers: Richard, Roger and Neil Lervig.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Jessie of Republican City; six children: Jim Klotthor and his wife, Mary Lou of Republican City, Floyd Klotthor and his wife, Adela of La Crescenta; Clyde Klotthor and his wife, Christy of La Crescenta, Douglas Klotthor and his wife, Janine of Bozeman, Montana, Barbara Kerr and her husband, Norman of Republican City and Cheryl Livesey and her husband, John of Dundas, Ontario, Canada; 18 grandchildren and their spouses; 19 great-grandchildren and their spouses; 4 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 4, 2010 at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Nebraska from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established in his memory and will be designated at a later date.
