Gary L. Peterson

A Celebration of Life Open House will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2021 from noon to 3:00 p.m. at the Peterson Family Farm; 10536 715 Rd. Orleans, NE 68966. A time of reflection and memories will begin at 1:30 p.m. Lunch will be served.

Private Graveside Services for Gary L. Peterson will be held at the Orleans Cemetery, at  Orleans, Nebraska with Pastor Albert Longe and Mr. Neal McInturf officiating.

Gary Lee Peterson, 80 years of age, of rural Orleans, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2020, at the Holdrege Memorial Homes. Gary was born on September 23, 1940, the second of four children, of Marvin and Hazel (Pearson) Peterson. He received his primary education from Carter Country School and later graduated from Orleans High School, with the class of 1959.

On December 6, 1963, Gary was inducted into the United States National Guard and was later honorably discharged.  Gary was united in marriage to Susanne McInturf on November 25, 1967, at the United Methodist Church in Oxford.  To this union three sons were born: Kyle, Kevin, and Kenton. The family made their home on a farm in rural Orleans, where Gary enjoyed the daily farm management duties.
Gary was a member of the United Methodist Church in Oxford; served on the CO-OP board; drove the school bus for Southern Valley Schools, for many years; and sponsored the Methodist Youth Group in Oxford.

Gary loved sports; in his early years, he played men's softball in Orleans; and later on, he enjoyed his son's activities, and grandchildren's activities.  His family will remember many memories as he taught them to snow ski.
Gary was preceded in death by:  his parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law:  Elmer and Dorothy McInturf; and brother-in-law, Harry Meeker.

Gary leaves to celebrate his life: his wife of almost 53 years, Susanne Peterson of rural Orleans; their three sons:  Kyle Peterson and wife, Carrie of Aurora, Nebraska; Kevin Peterson and wife, Sarah of rural Orleans; and Kenton Peterson and wife, Erin of rural Orleans; 12 grandchildren:  Meyer, Kellen, Mae, Oliver, and Stella; Mavrik, Karson, Korie, and Maguire; and Kyler, Kolbie, and Korver; two sisters:  LaDonna Meeker of Omaha, Nebraska; and Marlys Pedrett and her husband, Terry of Aurora, Colorado; brother, Rodney Peterson and his wife, Susan of Doniphan, Nebraska; two brothers-in-law:  Ed McInurf and Phyllis of rural Oxford, Nebraska; and Dick McInturf and Lois of Kearney, Nebraska; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

There will be no visitation or viewing.

A memorial has been established in Gary's honor and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
