Private Family Graveside Services for Gayle C. Bergstrom will be held at the Fridhem Cemetery near Funk, Nebraska at a later date with Pastor Daren Popple officiating.

Clemens "Gayle" Bergstrom, 81 years of age, of rural Wilcox, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society - Colonial Villa in Alma, Nebraska. Gayle was born April 23, 1937, on the family farm, northwest of Wilcox in Phelps County, Nebraska, the third child and only son born to Clemens and Lenora (Grote) Bergstrom.  He received his primary education from District #15 and then Wilcox Public School, where he graduated with the class of 1955.

Following his education, he was inducted into the United States Marine Corps on November 27, 1956.  During his three years of service, Gayle was stationed in various locations, including Japan.  He was honorably discharge October 9, 1959.

On February 27, 1960, he was united in marriage to Deanna Anderson at Axtell, Nebraska, and to this union three children were born:  Brent, Holly and Jill.  The family made their home on his parent's farm, northwest of Wilcox, where Gayle engaged in his life-long passion of farming.

Gayle was baptized, confirmed, and a member of the Fridhem Lutheran Church in Funk.  Throughout the years, Gayle was proud to have served his community on various Boards.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Hargis; brothers-in-law:  Everett Nitchie, Lester Harmon, and Arthur Arnt; and one nephew, Trevor Arnt.

He is survived by; his wife, Deanna Bergstrom of Christian Homes in Holdrege; his son, Brent Bergstrom and his wife, Cindy of rural Wilcox; two daughters: Holly Artz and her husband, Brent of rural Wilcox; and Jill Guthrie of Hildreth, Nebraska; eight grandchildren: Ryan Bergstrom and his wife, Jennifer; Amanda Struckman and her husband, Joshua; Chad Bergstrom and his wife, Samantha; Emily Bergstrom; Hailey Artz; Hannah Artz; Riley Guthrie and his wife, Jenni; and Melissa Guthrie; six great-grandchildren:  Lucas, Lexi and Ella Bergstrom; Isaac Struckman; and Brynn and Jace Guthrie; two sisters: Donna Harmon of Holdrege and Nancy Arnt of Littleton, Colorado; brother-in-law, Kenneth Hargis of Holdrege; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

There will be no visitation, the family is honoring Gayle's wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Gayle's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
