Private Memorial Graveside Services for Gaylon E. Geihsler will be held in spring of 2017 at the Harvard Cemetery in Harvard, Nebraska.

Gaylon Elmer Geihsler, 73 years of age, of Holdrege passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.  Gaylon was born on June 6, 1943 in Hayes Center, Nebraska, the younger of two children born to Clarence and Dorothy (Parker) Geihsler. He attended Hayes Center Public Schools, graduating with Hayes Center High School, with the class of 1961.  Following graduation, Gaylon attended college in Kearney for two years and one year at Chadron State College.

On January 19, 1973, he was united in marriage to Helen L. McKelvy at the United Methodist Church in Harvard and to this union three children born:  Scott, Grant and Kari.  Gaylon started working at Safeway Grocery Store in McCook, Nebraska and later Hastings, Nebraska.   He owned and operated the Jack and Jill grocery store in Alma, Nebraska from 1983 to 1990 and then began working for Nash Finch as a Produce Manager at Sun Mart, retiring in April 2016.

Gaylon enjoyed watching Nebraska sports, spending time with his six grandchildren, including their annual trip to Branson, Missouri.  He also enjoyed attending estate auctions with his wife and son, Grant and was an avid fan and devoted spectator of all the grandkids sporting events.

Besides his parents, Gaylon was preceded in death by a sister, Carol in infancy.

He leaves to celebrate his life; his wife, Helen Geihsler of Holdrege; children:  Scott Geihsler of Greeley, Colorado, Grant Geihsler and his wife, Loni of Derby, Kansas and Kari Stattler-Geihsler of Lincoln, Nebraska;  six grandchildren:  Michael Geihsler, Kalee Stattler, Chase Geihsler, Mallory Geihsler, Kinley Davenport and Kyler Davenport;  along with a host of other relatives and friends.

There will be no memorial book signing or visitation.  The family is honoring Gaylon's wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Gaylon's honor and will be designated at a later date.
