Private Memorial Graveside Services for George L. Buzzard, Jr. will be held at the Grand Island Cemetery in Grand Island, Nebraska.

George Lester Buzzard, Jr., 79 years of age, of Orleans, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at his home in Orleans. George was born on April 28, 1936 in Alma, Nebraska the second of three children born to George, Sr. and Audrey V. (Niles) Buzzard.   He received his education from Grand Island High School, graduating with the class of 1955.

In 1955, George was inducted into the United States Marine Corps.  He served during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was later honorably discharged.

On November 21, 1956, he was united in marriage to Loretta Mae Dillard.  To this union three children were born:  Robert, Kerrie and Jerry.  The family made their home in San Mateo, California where George worked construction.  George and Loretta later settled in Orleans, where George drove truck for Cargill until his retirement.

George enjoyed reading cowboy novels, hunting and fishing.

George was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Loretta in 1998.

He leaves to celebrate his life; his three children:  Robert Buzzard and his wife, Ruth of Brentwood, California, Kerrie Hood of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Jerry Buzzard and his wife, Melinda of Brentwood; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; along with many other relatives and friends.

The family is honoring George's wish for cremation.  There will be no visitation.

A memorial has been established in George's honor and will be designated at a later date.
