Funeral Services for Gladys V. Diener will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Paul Snider officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date the Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Macon, Nebraska.
Gladys Viola Diener, 71 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege, Nebraska. Gladys was born on June 6, 1940 on the family farm near Macon, Nebraska the ninth of nine children born to Focke and Katherin (Miller) Diener. She attended rural country school near Macon until the 5th grade.
Gladys lived at Bethphage Mission at Axtell, Nebraska for 30 years. Later, she worked as a seamstress for Mosaic in Holdrege, NE. Gladys enjoyed doing latch-hook as a hobby and watching old television shows.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Flora Forden Greisen, Louise Jensen and Leta Mae Diener, brothers: Habbe Diener and Earl Diener and nephew: Dennis Sasse.
Gladys leaves to mourn her passing, sisters: Mary Fox of Smithfield, NE, Tillie Goracke and her husband, Francis of Phillipsburg, KS, brother: John Diener of Franklin, NE, brother-in-law: Billy Jensen of rural Alma, NE, nieces: Kathy Witt and her husband, Randy of Juniata, NE, Joyce Bretton and her husband, Dale, of Phillipsburg, KS, Veronica Yowell and her husband, William of Lovell, Wyoming, Rogene Oyler and her husband, Albert of Smithfield, NE, Katherine Lierman and her husband, Trent of Grand Island, NE, and Judy Wade of Upland, NE, niece-in-law: Diane Sasse of Lincoln, NE, nephews: Jim Forden of Hastings, NE, Harvey Goracke and his wife, Marilyn of Phillipsburg, KS, Dale Jensen and his wife, Deb of Alma, NE, Gary Jensen and his wife, Sharon of Wilcox, NE and John Jensen of Lincoln, NE, along with many extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held prior to services at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska.
Memorials may be directed to the Phelps County Public Transit, Mosaic or Bethel Lutheran Church.
