A funeral service for Gordon K. Cochran will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Alma, Nebraska with Pastor Dave Irwin officiating. Interment will follow at the Alma Cemetery in Alma, Nebraska.
Gordon K. Cochran, 83 years of age, of Alma, passed away, on December 25, 2024, at Harlan County Health System in Alma. Gordon was born in Centralia, Kansas, on June 14, 1941, the eldest of two sons, born to Lee and Agnes Cecelia (Hoover) Cochran. He received his education from Alma Public Schools graduating with the class of 1959.
On March 23, 1963, Gordon was united in marriage to Wanda Schroder at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Alma, and to this union, three daughters were born: Jana Lea, Michelle Ann, and Kimberly Renee.
He enjoyed following the Nebraska Cornhuskers football and volleyball teams and being outside working in his yard. Gordon loved being out in the community talking with others and watching his grandkids and great-grandkids activities and sporting events.
Gordon served the community for many years. He was a member of the Alma Volunteer Fire Department serving as Fire Chief and EMT. He served on the Alma City Council and two terms on the Harlan County Hospital Board.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law; two brothers-in-law: Harry Schroder and his wife, Pauline; Kenneth Schroder and his wife Verlene; one sister-in-law, Myrene Ulrichson and her husband Paul.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Wanda Cochran of Alma; his daughters: Jana Cochran of Alma; Michelle Edwards and her husband, Jon of Lincoln, Nebraska; Kimberly Bose of Orleans, Nebraska; five grandchildren: Jordan Bose; Brittney Arnold; Mollie Taylor and her husband Jared; Maggie Bose; Trevin Bose; six great-grandchildren: Landon Arnold; Bentley Arnold; Harper Benson; Jaxon Taylor; Jaelie Taylor; and Jasper Taylor; brothers: Phillip Cochran and his wife, Linda; one brother-in-law, Daryle Schroder and his wife, Kay; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Alma.
A memorial has been established in Gordon's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
