Grace Evelyn Rehnberg, 98 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2018 at Holdrege Memorial Homes. Grace was born December 19, 1919, on the family farm north of Loomis, in the Westmark Community, the eldest of three daughters born to Harold and Esther (Broberg) Nelson. The family attended the Westmark Evangelical Free Church, where Grace was baptized. She received her education at Bertrand, and at a young age began to help on the farm in Gosper County.
On December 22, 1946, she was united in marriage to Ronald R. Rehnberg, and to this union three children were born: Richard, Roger, and Renee. The family made their home on a farm west of Bertrand in Gosper County until moving to Loomis, Nebraska in 1960, where they resided until retirement. After retirement, Grace and Ronald moved into Holdrege. On April 1, 1997, she was preceded in death by Ronald. In 1999, Grace began to make her home at Holdrege Memorial Homes.
Grace spent all of her years as a homemaker, and mother caring for every need of the family. She was a Cub Scout leader, active with the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, loved following her children in their activities, and was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church, where she was active with her circle.
She loved to quilt, knit, and crochet scarfs and shawls, which she enjoyed taking to the craft show and treated friends and family as gifts.
Besides her husband, Ronald, and her parents; Grace was preceded in death by two children: Renee in 2000, and Roger in 2006; and a grandson, Joseph Alan Rehnberg in 1978; and two sisters: Harriett Nelson and Linnea Preitauer.
Grace leaves to celebrate her life; her son, Richard Rehnberg and his wife, Diane of Holdrege; son-in-law, Jerry Hilman and his wife, Marlene of Holdrege; daughter-in-law, Marianne Rehnberg of Miller, Nebraska; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
