Funeral Services for Guelah E. Lueking will be conducted from the St. John's Lutheran Church in Oxford, Nebraska on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Dale Hedstrom officiating. Interment will be held in the Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Nebraska.

Guelah Elvera Lueking, 92 years of age, of Oxford, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at the Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege, Nebraska. She was born on February 8, 1916 in rural Athol, Kansas the eldest of six children of Robert Ernest and Nellie Laura (Upton) Hunt. She attended Edison High School and Arapahoe High School, where she graduated with the class of 1933. She then taught at many of the areas rural schools while pursuing higher education from Kearney State Teachers College. Later, she received a Bachelors Degree of Science from Phillips University in 1949. Guelah worked as the director of Christian Education for the Greenville, Ohio school system as well as the Darke County Schools from 1950 to 1953.

On July 26, 1953 she was united in marriage to Harold Ernest Lueking in Edison, Nebraska. To this union, two sons were born: Lloyd and Lee. The family made their home in Oxford, Nebraska where Guelah stayed home to raise her two boys. She then worked as the Head Librarian at the Oxford City Library for many years.

Guelah was an active member at St. John's Lutheran Church where she was a charter member of the Mini-Sharing Group, the Martha Circle, and was also very active in Christian Education. In addition, she was also a member of the Oxford Woman's Club, and ABC Club in Oxford. She enjoyed being very organized and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She leaves to mourn her passing, sons, Lloyd Lueking and his wife Loretta of Oxford, Nebraska, and Lee Lueking and his wife Dianna of Batavia, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Traci, and her husband, Justin Fisher, Amy, Matthew, Kimberly, Tristan, and Sonya Lueking; three great-grandchildren, Jenna, Samuel, and Callie Fisher; brother, Ivan Hunt and his wife Shirley of McCook, Nebraska; three sisters-in-law, Phyllis Johnson of Holdrege, Nebraska, Janice Hunt of Denver, Colorado, and Ruth Schoen of Oxford, Nebraska; as well as a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and four brothers, Leslie, Melvin, Duane and Max Hunt.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford, Nebraska, with the family greeting friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established in her memory and will be designated at a later date.

The Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford is in charge of the arrangements.

Guelah praised God for a great family, wonderful friends and a life filled with many blessings.
