Gustaf Algot "Gust" Sall, 102, ½ years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020, at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege.  Gust was born December 16, 1917, in Phelps County, Nebraska, near Sacramento, Nebraska, the fifth of six children to Algot and Alma (Lundquist) Sall.  He was baptized in January 1918 at the Bethel Lutheran Church and later confirmed in 1932.  He attended Sacramento school through the 10 th grade and then lived with his Grandpa and Grandma Sall, while he attended Holdrege High School, graduating in 1935.

On December 16, 1943, Gust was united in marriage to Phyllis Artz of Huntley, Nebraska.  The couple began "housekeeping", one mile south and ¾ of a mile West of Sacramento.    In March of 1946, they began to make their home on a farm, seven miles South and 3 ½ miles West of Holdrege, where they farmed their entire lives.  The couple was blessed with two children:  Richard Neil and Karen Elaine.   Besides farming, Gust was also known throughout Harlan County, as the District Assessor, going house to house, to assess the property.

Gust served on the CO-OP Board, the ASC Committee Board, and with Kiwanna's.  He could often be found at the Phelps County Senior Center for lunch and then spending the remainder of the afternoon playing pool with his buddies.

Gust was proud to be a life-time member of the Bethel Lutheran Church.  He and Phyllis enjoyed square dancing, traveling, watching Husker sports, politics, visiting about anything farm related and he loved anything chocolate.  Gust passed his driver's test at age 95 and continued to drive until his 99 th birthday.

He was preceded in death by; his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law:  John and Daisy (Metzger) Artz; four brothers:  Alfred, Dave, Melvin, and Lloyd; sister, Elvera Anderson; three brothers-in-law:  Merle and Marian Artz; Dean and Bonnie Artz; and Lloyd and Anona Artz; his son, Rick in 2004; and his wife, Phyllis in 2010.

Gust leaves to celebrate his life; his daughter, Karen Bunnell and her husband, George, Jr. of Oxford, Nebraska; four grandchildren: Jason Sall and his wife, Stacy of Lincoln, Nebraska; Eric Sall of Great Mills, Maryland; Gina Dunse and her husband, Travis of Alma; and Sally Bunnell of New York City; five great-grandchildren:  Gavin, Ian, and Sophia Dunse of Alma; Greyson Sall of Lincoln; and Grant Deisley of Lincoln; two adoptive grandchildren: Mike Sall of Omaha; and Sara Sall of Indian Head, Maryland; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
