Memorial Services for H. Lucille Richardson will be conducted from the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Rodney Bieber, officiating. Inurnment will be in the Industry Cemetery near Atlanta, Nebraska.
Helen "Lucille" Richardson, 95 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Franklin, Nebraska. Lucille was born August 29, 1915 on a farm southeast of Holdrege in Phelps County, Nebraska, the youngest of four children of Ira Roy and Anna Lena (Peterson) Morse. Lucille received her primary education from District #8 in Phelps County through the eighth grade and then graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1932. She then pursued higher education at the Barnes School of Commerce and the Dickinson Secretary School both in Denver, Colorado.
Following her education she was united in marriage to Charles Richardson. The couple made their home in Boulder, Colorado and Shelton, Nebraska, where Lucille worked as the secretary to the principal at the Shelton Academy, and then the secretary of the registrar's office at the Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska, while putting her husband through school. The couple then moved to San Pedro, California, where Lucille was employed as the secretary for the Electric Boat Company and also worked as the secretary for Van Camp Seafood Company until moving to Glendale, California. While in Glendale, Lucille was the secretary and film librarian for the Seventh Day Adventist State Conference for nine years. In 1962, she moved back to Holdrege to care for her parents and an uncle. In Holdrege, Lucille was employed by the Holdrege Public Library and Artistic Woven Labels until starting Richardson Specialty Foods in 1979, which she continued to operate until her retirement.
She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Holdrege, the National Federation of Independent Business and past member of the Holdrege Chamber of Commerce.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Charlotte Jean in infancy; three brothers and their wives: Glenn Morse and his wife, Florence, Roy Morse and his wife, Irene and Lowell Morse and his wife, Jessie.
She leaves to mourn her passing a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
There will be no visitation, the family is honoring her wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in her memory and will be designated at a later date.
