Harlan Oscar Pearson, 69 years of age, of rural Alma, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Harlan County Health Systems in Alma. Harlan was born March 11, 1946 in Wayne, Nebraska. He was the only child born to Abner and Helen (Peterson) Pearson. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Nebraska.

He served in the United States National Guard from October 29, 1965 to October 28, 1971, during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge.

On August 9, 1968, Harlan was united in marriage to Julie Sanborn and to this union two children were born: Angela and Rodney. The family made their home in Lincoln. They later divorced.

Harlan worked at Highway Equipment Company, where he later became vice president and owner of the company for 33 years, until he closed the business in 1997.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and spending time with friends and family.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association, The 100 Club, Ducks Unlimited, The North American Hunting Club and The Army National Guard.

Harlan was preceeded in death by his parents.

He leaves to mourn his passing; his daughter, Angela Pearson of Lincoln; son, Rodney Pearson of Lincoln; grandchildren: Jessica, Justin, Kelcie, Kaden, Alex and Cody; and a host of dear friends.

The family is honoring Harlan's wish for cremation.  There will be no visitation or memorial book signing.

A memorial has been established in Harlan's honor and will be designated at a later date.
