Funeral Services for Harold A. Eberle will be conducted from the Christian Homes Chapel in Holdrege, Nebraska on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Murray Jones and Chaplain DeWane Dow, officiating. Interment will be in the Sumner Cemetery at Sumner, Nebraska.

Harold Arthur Eberle, 90 years of age, of Holdrege (formerly of Mesa, Arizona and Sumner, Nebraska) passed away on Friday, November 2, 2007 at the Christian Homes in Holdrege. Harold was born November 22, 1916 at Sumner, the eldest of four children of Eugene W. and Emma (Johnson) Eberle. Harold received his education from Sumner, graduating from Sumner High School with the class of 1936. Following his education, Harold engaged in farming and ranching in Dawson County, Nebraska near Sumner. Harold continued his love for the labor of the land and raising livestock until his retirement in 1982.

On March 11, 1939 he was united in marriage to Juanita Searles at Kearney, Nebraska and to this union three children were born: Dean, Janet and Karen. Harold was led to the Lord by his good friend, LaVern Newquist in 1944 and later was baptized at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege. Following their retirement, Harold and Juanita made their home in Mesa, Arizona from 1982 until 2007. While in Arizona, Harold enjoyed working for the Mesa Public School System for several years. During their retirement years, the couple enjoyed traveling on cruises together throughout the world. In 2007, Harold and Juanita returned to Nebraska and made their home at Chrisoma West in Holdrege. Family was always foremost of importance in his life, especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Harold was a member of the Sumner Evangelical Free Church and the Broadway Christian Church in Mesa, Arizona, he was also a member of the Farm Bureau Association and Cattleman's Association.

He leaves to mourn his passing: his wife, Juanita of Holdrege; son, Dean Eberle and his wife, Jean of Sumner; two daughters: Janet Elliott and her husband, Cal of Spring Branch, Texas and Karen Idt and her husband, Gary of Yankton, South Dakota; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Floy Walberg of Denver, Colorado; sister-in-law, Lela Eberle of York, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Kari Jean Eberle; two brothers: Donald Eberle and his wife, Louise and Lloyd Eberle; and one brother-in-law, John Walberg.

There will be no public visitation, the family is honoring Harold's wish of a closed casket.

A memorial has been established in his memory and contributions may be sent to Good Samaritan Hospice of Kearney or the Christian Homes of Holdrege.
