Harold G. Marvel

Private Family Memorial Services will be held for Harold G. Marvel. Harold Glenn Marvel, 89 years of age, of Bertrand, Nebraska (formerly of Roswell, New Mexico) passed away on Friday, December 29, 2006 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege, Nebraska.

Harold was born October 9, 1917 at Gowrie, Iowa, the second of three children of Ellsworth and Chloe (Orms) Marvel. He received his education at New Hampton, Iowa, graduating from New Hampton High School with the class of 1935. Following his education, Harold served his country during WW II in the United States Navy from October 9, 1941 until his honorable discharge on October 2, 1945.

In 1951, he was united in marriage to Peggy P. Hicks and to this union two daughters were born: Glenda and Patti. The family made their home in several states with Harold's work in construction. Harold was employed by Peter Kiewit Sons of Omaha, Nebraska for 20 years until his retirement. Harold resided in Hanna, Wyoming, Rawlins, Wyoming and Roswell, New Mexico following his retirement. He had a special love for music, especially singing.

He leaves to mourn his passing his two daughters: Glenda Marvel of Rawlins, Wyoming and Patti Fosbinder and her husband, Rodney of Bertrand; one step-son, Paul Collins and his wife, Christine of Roswell, New Mexico; and a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Helen Stevens and Ruth Bergman.

A memorial has been established in his memory.

There will be no visitation, the family is honoring Harold's wishes for cremation.
