Memorial Services for Harold Lowell Woodring will be conducted from the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Dr. W. Kirwin Stewart, Jr., officiating. Private family inurnment will be prior to the Memorial Service at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
Harold L. Woodring, 91 years of age, of Escondido, California, departed this life on October 6, 2007 in Escondido, CA following a lengthy illness. He is now at home with his Lord and Savior.
Harold was born July 17, 1916 in Smithfield, Nebraska to Cyrus Ray and Minnie Gayle (Forster) Woodring. He was a farmer, homebuilder, truck broker and businessman in and around the Holdrege area for many years.
Harold was a loving, wonderful husband. He was most happy when he was around his family and friends. He especially enjoyed talking about farming and the changes in the past 90 years. His grandchildren were always amazed when listening to Grandpa talk about those years and especially his childhood. Harold was a very warm and caring person, always thinking of others first. He will be remembered by his gentle nature, clever wit and his strong love for his family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, DeLene of Escondido, CA; daughter, Karen Schaefer of Fountain Hills, AZ; five sons: Gary Woodring of Lakewood, WA, Gordon Woodring of Lawton, OK, Dennis Breese of Quinter, KS, Dallas Woodring of Escondido, CA and Terry Woodring of Woodward, OK; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, LaVera Edick of Bismark, ND; brother, Willis Woodring of Omaha, NE; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sheila F. Woodring; grandson, Dewey L. Breese and granddaughter, Candice A. Woodring.
There will be no visitation, the family his honoring Harold's wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in his memory and suggested to the Elizabeth Hospice, 150 West Crest St., Escondido, CA 92025.
