Mass of Christian Burial Service for Harriet A. Meyers will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the All Saints Catholic Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Father Thomas Lux and Father Evan Winter, as concelebrants.

Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

Harriet Ann Meyers, 87 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at the Bethany Home in Minden, Nebraska. Harriet was born on October 28, 1934, on a farm near Zurich, Kansas, the third of eight children to Emile and Alfreda (Mongeau) Newell. She was baptized in the Saint Ann's Catholic Church in Zurich. Harriet attended several rural schools through eighth grade and graduated from Palco Rural High School in Palco, Kansas, with the class of 1952. She pursued higher education graduating from the Brown-Macke School of Business in Salina, Kansas.

After graduation, she worked for the Farmer State Bank in Hays, Kansas. On April 26, 1954, she was united in marriage to Harold Meyers in Damar, Kansas and to this union four children were born: Richard, Douglas, Diane, and Randall. After her marriage, she worked for the Plainville Lumber Company as a bookkeeper for several years and then for the Ford Motor Company. She then became a full time mother and homemaker. Harriet stayed busy at their church and belonged to the Sacred Heart Guild.

In 1969, Harriet and Harold moved to Holdrege, where she was employed at the Holdrege Public Schools for 16 years, retiring from there in 1994. She was an active member of the All Saints Catholic Church, the Alter Society, and a volunteer at the Holdrege Hospital. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveling, her flower garden, and doing crafts. Harriet and Harold also enjoyed wintering in Arizona for several years.

Harriet was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her parents; one great-grandson, James Aloysius Ostgren; two sisters:  Annette Hollingsworth; and LaVina (Paul) Mispegal; four brothers: Duane (Ann) Newell; Kenneth Newell; LeRoy Newell; and Nelson (Robin) Newell; and two brothers-in-law:  Dean Gross; and Joseph Meyers.

Harriet leaves to celebrate her life; one daughter, Diane Ostgren and her husband, Dennis of Holdrege; three sons:  Rick Meyers of Arvada, Colorado; Doug Meyers and his wife, Kathy of Minden, Nebraska; and Randy Meyers and his wife, Linda of Littleton, Colorado; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Janet Gross of Salina, Kansas; one brother-in-law, Jim Hollingsworth of Cheyenne, Wyoming; two sisters-in-law: Shirley Newell of Norton, Kansas; and Delores Meyers of Plainville, Kansas; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 6, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege with the family greeting from 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.  Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established in Harriet's honor and kindly suggested to the All Saints Catholic Church.
