A funeral service for Hazel C. Cuypers will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Rev. Kenton Birtell officiating. Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege.

Hazel Charlotte Cuypers, 92 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025, in Holdrege. Hazel was born in LaMoure County, North Dakota, on December 17, 1932, the fourth of five children, born to Fred and Jessie (Colby) Hollingsworth. She received her education from Nortonville Public Schools in North Dakota and graduated with the class of 1950.

On May 27, 1949, Hazel was united in marriage to Donald Cuypers, and to this union, 11 children were born: Charles, David, Charlotte, Thomas, Barbara, Carol, Michael, Donise, Dwayne, Bryon, and Ronda. The couple moved to Holdrege in July of 1964, and Hazel worked at Artistic Woven Labels. In January of 1975, she started working at Becton Dickinson and worked there until her retirement. On September 25, 1975, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald.

Hazel enjoyed putting together puzzles, quilting, embroidery, crocheting, and knitting. She especially loved the large family gatherings and getting everyone together for the holidays. Hazel was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, BD Alumni, Eagles Auxiliary, and Live and Learn Friendship Club.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Cuypers; two sons: David Cuypers; and Bryon Cuypers; one grandson, Cyrel George; one great-granddaughter, Abigail Wheeler; two sisters: Edna Neumann and her husband Cordell; Delores DeMars and her husband, Alfred; one brother, James Hollingsworth; and one brother-in-law, Virgil Rott.

Hazel is survived by nine children: Charles Cuypers and his wife, Judy of Ft. Collins, Colorado; Charlotte Hester and her husband, Robert of Fairmont, Nebraska; Tom Cuypers of Torrington, Wyoming; Barb Straatmann and her husband, Rick of Holdrege; Carol Dohmen and her husband, Dennis of Platte Center, Nebraska; Mike Cuypers of Edgeley, North Dakota; Donise George and her husband, Glenn of Hutto, Texas; Dwayne Cuypers and his wife, Terasa of Holdrege; and Ronda Booth and her husband, Terry of Holdrege; step-son, Craig Linner of Wimberly, Texas; 24 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Rott of Jamestown, North Dakota; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Hazel's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
