Heather Johanne Longmire
Heather Johanne Longmire, 66 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at her home in Holdrege. Heather was born April 22, 1942 at Woking, England, the only child of Johannes and Helen (Crosbie) VandenBerg. She received her education from San Diego, California, graduating from Lincoln High School with the class of 1959.
On January 19, 1963 she was united in marriage to Lester Roy Longmire in San Diego. To this union two daughters were born: Elizabeth and Leslie.
Heather devoted her life to raising their daughters and provided a loving home for her family. She enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling and had a special place in her heart for her cats. She was active at the Holdrege Public Library and a member of the Friends of the Library.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Lester of Holdrege; her two daughters: Elizabeth Keim and her husband, Floyd of Allentown, Pennsylvania and Leslie Patterson and her husband, David of Ft. Collins, Colorado; two grandchildren: Austen Keim and Floyd Keim, III of Allentown and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
There will be a private family memorial service at a later date.
A memorial has been established in Heather's memory and kindly suggested to the Holdrege Public Library or the Melanoma Research Foundation.
