A private graveside service and inurnment for Helen L. Geihsler will be held at the Harvard Cemetery, Harvard, Nebraska.

Helen L. Geihsler, 78 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, died on Monday, December 25, 2023, at the CHI - Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska.  Helen was born on September 17, 1945, in McAlester, Oklahoma, the youngest of two children, born to Jesse C. "J.C." and Hazel M. (Given) McKelvy. She attended school at Harvard, Nebraska, and then attended and graduated from Harvard High School with the class of 1963.  She pursued higher education from Central Community College in Hastings.

On January 19, 1973, she was united in marriage to Gaylon E. Geihsler at the United Methodist Church in Harvard.  This union was blessed with three children:  Scott, Grant, and Kari.  The family made their home in McCook, Nebraska; Hastings, Nebraska; and later, moved to Alma, Nebraska, where they owned and operated the Jack and Jill grocery store.  In 1996, they began to make their home in Holdrege.

Helen also worked at Bethphage Mission in Holdrege, and the McDonalds Departments Store in Hastings.

Helen was an avid cardinal collector and enjoyed watching Husker Sports and QVC!  She loved spending time with her grandkids, and enjoyed attending her grandchildren's activities when able.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gaylon in 2017; and her brother, Don Stilley.

Those left to celebrate her life, include: her children:  Scott Geihsler of Greeley, Colorado; Grant Geihsler of Derby, Kansas; and Kari Stattler-Geihsler of Holdrege, Nebraska; six grandchildren:  Michael Geihsler, Kalee Stattler, Chase Geihsler, Mallory Geihsler, Kinley Davenport, and Kyler Davenport; and one great-grandson, Camden Journey; sister-in-law, Gail Stilley of Hastings; along with extended family.

There will be no visitation or viewing.  The family is honoring Helen's wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Helen's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
