Funeral Services for Helen C. Kuck will be held on Friday, January 30, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Oxford, Nebraska with Pastor Wes Holen officiating. Interment will be in the Oxford Cemetery following the services.
Helen Catherine Kuck, 99 years of age, of Orleans, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at the Harlan County Health Systems in Alma, Nebraska. Helen was born March 21, 1915 in rural Furnas County, Nebraska, the eldest of eight children born to William Richard and Nellie Anna (Perry) Adden. She received her education from Oxford Public Schools thru the 8 th Grade.
On July 1, 1931, she was united in marriage to Riley Gunther Kuck in Norton, Kansas and to this union five children were born: Ida Mae, Martha, Eunice, Joseph and Jerry. The family made their home on a farm south of Bertrand, Nebraska where they engaged in farming. In 1940, the family moved to Arapahoe, Nebraska where they continued farming. During this time, Helen worked in the Poultry House in Oxford for about four years. In 1961, the family moved to Longmont, Colorado. Helen worked for 17 years at the Boulder Community Hospital as a Nurse's Aide; in central supply for 12 years and later at the University Hospital for another 3 and a half years. After Riley preceded her death on August 16, 1989, Helen moved to Orleans.
Helen was a member of the United Methodist Church in Arapahoe, attended the Methodist Church in Longmont, and was currently attending the Evangelical Free Church in Oxford.
She enjoyed reading and baking. Angel Food cakes were her specialty.
Besides her parents and her husband; Helen was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Edward Kuck in infancy; four brothers: Dale Adden and his wife, LaVern, Eldon Adden, Wyllis Adden and Harold Adden; three sisters: Doris Viele and her husband, Lee, Wilma Varwig and her husband, Walt and Eloise Songer and her husband, Charles.
She leaves to mourn her passing; her son, Jerry Kuck of Oxford; three daughters: Ida Mae McBride and her husband, Jim of Holbrook, Nebraska, Martha Weaver of Westminster, Colorado, Eunice Brant and her husband, Jim of Hibbing, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Charlene Adden of Lincoln, Nebraska and Phyllis Adden of Tecumseh, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
A memorial has been established in Helen's honor and kindly suggested to the Evangelical Free Church in Oxford, Nebraska.
