Helen M Pyell

Funeral Services for Helen M. Pyell will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Orleans, Nebraska with Pastor Dave Irwin officiating. Interment will be in the Carter Cemetery in rural Harlan County, Nebraska following the services.

Helen M. Pyell, 88 years of age, of Northglenn, Colorado (formerly of Orleans), passed away on Friday, May 13, 2016 at the Roosevelt Care Group of Northglenn. Helen was born June 16, 1927 at Holdrege, Nebraska, the daughter of Albert and Eleanor (Bloom) Ibsen. She received her education from Orleans Public School and graduated from Orleans High School with the class of 1945.

On November 3, 1946, she was united in marriage to Harold D. Pyell of Orleans, and to this union five children were born: Ronald, Dennis, Eugene, Randy and Joyce. Following Harold's Honorable Discharge from the Navy, the couple began to make their home in the Orleans area for several years, until moving to Longmont, Colorado in 1954. In 1978, Helen and Harold returned to Orleans, where they operated the H&H Burger Barn until their retirement in 1992. On December 19, 1994 she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold. Helen continued to reside in Orleans until 2009, when she began to make her home in Colorado to be near her family.

Helen was a longtime member of the Evangelical Free Church in Stamford, Nebraska prior to the closing of the church, and attended First Denver Friends Church with family. She was saved at an early age at a bible camp and loved her Lord. She was also a member of the Carter Extension Club until they closed. Helen loved her Lord, her family, the farm, gardening, the Colorado Mountains, and camping.

Besides her parents and husband, Harold, Helen was preceded in death by one son, Ronald; her brother, Ernest Ibsen; and two great-grandchildren: Morgan Oster and Donald Oster.

Helen leaves to celebrate her life; her four children: Dennis Pyell and his wife, Adelle of Orleans, Eugene Pyell and his wife, Patty of Westminster, Colorado, Joyce Oster and her husband, Kenneth of Lodi, California, and Randy Pyell and his wife, Claudette of Greeley, Colorado; 31 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Collins and her husband, Neil of Orleans; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Alma.

A memorial has been established in Helen's honor and will be designated at a later date.
