Funeral Services for Herbert C. Paulson will be conducted from the Evangelical Free Church in Loomis, Nebraska on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Tom Thompson, officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege, Nebraska.
Herbert Clifford Paulson, 91 years of age, of Holdrege, (formerly of Loomis) passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at the Christian Homes in Holdrege. Herb was born October 27, 1916 on the family farm north of Holdrege in Phelps County, Nebraska, the fourth of eight children of John and Mabel (Sandin) Paulsen. When Herb was a young boy the family moved to a farm south of Bertrand. Herb received his education from the District #25 School, south of Bertrand. Following his education, Herb engaged in farming and later worked as a farmhand for area farmers.
On January 1, 1961 he was united in marriage to Helen Leta (Small) Lingo. The couple made their home in Loomis. Later in years, Herb was employed by Carl Felker as a fertilizer applicator and then was employed by the Loomis Co-op until his retirement.
On April 29, 2000, Herb was preceded in death by his wife, Helen. During his free time, Herb enjoyed fishing, tending to his vegetable garden and loved sharing his produce with many friends and enjoyed woodworking. He was a past member of the Methodist Church in Loomis and later, Herb attended the Loomis Evangelical Free Church and was an active member of the Loomis Fire Department for several years.
He leaves to mourn his passing his brother, John Paulsen and his wife, Edna of Funk, Nebraska; two sisters: Irene Griffith of Bertrand, Nebraska and Ruth Nelson of Loomis; step-children: Sherry Ford and her husband, Steven of Wilson, Kansas and Terry Lingo; several step-grandchildren; step great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Albert Paulson and his wife, Alberta and Roy Paulson and his wife, Myrtle; two sisters: Louise Paulsen and Myrtle Clayton and her husband, Tom; two brothers-in-laws: Densmore Nelson and Claude Griffith.
Herb will lie in state at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Monday, December 10, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
