Funeral Services for Howard C. Greening will be held on Friday, October 2, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Naponee Wesleyan Church in Naponee, Nebraska with Pastor Scott Randall officiating. Interment will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Bloomington, Nebraska, with Military Honors.
Howard Charles Greening, 82 years of age, of Alma, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the Harlan County Health System in Alma. Howard was born May 29, 1933, on his parent's farm in rural Franklin County, south of Wilcox, Nebraska, the second of five children born to Charles E. and Myrtle Mary (Haubold) Greening. He received his education and graduated from Naponee High School with the class of 1950.
On April 23, 1953, Howard enlisted in the United States Army in Omaha, Nebraska. He served during the Korean Conflict and was later honorably discharged on April 21, 1955. Following his discharge, Howard served in the reserve capacity for an additional eight years.
After returning from the war, Howard worked for Amman Sand & Gravel of Naponee. He then worked as a mechanic for local Ford dealerships.
Howard enjoyed attending auctions, driving his antique tractors in parades and his dog, Muffie. Howard was very active with the Naponee American Legion Hicks-Siegel Post # 364 for over 50 years and was also a member of the Naponee Wesleyan Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Luella Overmiller and husband, Dale and Mary Monaghan; and Howard's companion of 56 years, Delia Brugh in 2015; and brother-in-law, Darrel Snow.
He leaves to celebrate his life, his sisters: Velma Snow of Phillipsburg, Kansas and Lela Randall and her husband, Richard of Naponee; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2015 from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Alma.

A memorial has been established in Howard's honor and will be designated at a later date.
