Celebration of Life Services for Hugh F. Catron will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Reverend Jeff Adams officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Hugh Francis Catron, 79 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska. Hugh was born August 10, 1935 at Meadow Grove, Nebraska, the fourth of five children born to Roy M. and Margaret M. (Alworth) Catron. Hugh received his education from Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Nebraska, graduating with the class of 1953. Following his education, Hugh began a career in Sales and later Management for printing companies.
On September 10, 1955 he was united in marriage to Barbara Rose Brehm at the Trinity Methodist Church in Lincoln. To this union three children were born: Allison, Jeff and Julie. The family made their home in Lincoln, where Hugh was employed by the Nebraska Farmer Printing Company. Job relocations took the family to San Diego, California and then to Denver, Colorado. While in Denver, Hugh was employed as Sales Manager for the American Color Corporation. Following retirement, Hugh and Barbara moved to Holdrege in 2000, where he enjoyed his membership of the Holdrege Country Club. He also served in the United States Army National Guards for several years. Besides being an avid golfer, Hugh enjoyed hunting, fishing and getting together with the guys for fellowship.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Allison Bunger in 2009; two sisters: Sally Davidson and her husband, Les and Marilyn Engelhardt. He leaves to mourn his passing; his wife of 59 years, Barbara Catron of Holdrege; one daughter, Julie Hamann and her husband, Thomas of San Diego, California; one son, Jeff Catron and his wife, Jennifer of Fredericksburg, Virginia; four grandchildren: Jordon Hamann, Andrew Catron, Katie Catron, and Quinn Bunger; two sisters: Jean Siegmund and her husband, Joe of Spring, Texas and Sandra Fadler and her husband, Orien of Murietta, California; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
There will be no visitation, the family is honoring Hugh's wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Hugh's honor and kindly suggested to Phelps County Community Foundation.
