Funeral Services for Ilene Anderson will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Reverend Jan Gluth King officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege.

Nelle Ilene Anderson, 79 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege. She was born on October 1, 1938 in Kearney, Nebraska, the youngest of three children born to Arthur and Ruth (Clark) Allen. Ilene attended rural schools in Phelps County, and graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1955.

Ilene worked various jobs and retired from the USDA as the County Executive Director of Polk County in Osceola, Nebraska in 2004.

On May 28, 1957, Ilene was united in marriage to Richard Anderson at Holcomb Church north of Holdrege, and to this union three children were born: Allen, Clark and Jayne. The family lived in Lexington, Minden, Osceola and Holdrege, Nebraska.

Ilene loved music, and played the piano and organ. She was the church organist for Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden for 10 years, and played the organ for many weddings at various churches throughout Nebraska. She was a member of the Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school and Bible school. She was also active with 4-H and was a 4-H leader, teaching sewing and cooking. She loved time spent with her family at the Harlan County Lake, traveling and quilting. She made quilts for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Ilene was preceded in death by two brothers: Kenneth Allen and Graydon Allen; and one great-grandson, Kale Soneson.

Ilene leaves to mourn her passing; her husband, Richard Anderson of Holdrege; her three children: Allen Anderson and his wife, Gale of Holdrege, Clark Anderson and his wife, Kandis of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jayne Anderson and her husband, Thomas Cotter of Las Vegas; six grandchildren: Jamie Rooks and her husband, LaRon, Abigail Soneson and her husband, Brent, Lindsay Sullivan and her husband, Dylan, and Blake Anderson, all of Holdrege, Maddelynn Anderson of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Nick Cotter and his wife, Alison of Lakewood, Colorado; eleven great-grandchildren: Gabrielle, Xavier, and Harper Rooks; Kaleb, Isaac, and Lexie Soneson; Kyler, and Brody Sullivan; Wyatt Anderson; Broc Rivetti; and Moses Cotter; sister-in-law, Dora Lee Carlson of Holdrege; brother-in-law, David Anderson and his wife, Kay of Amherst, Nebraska; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 8, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm with the family greeting from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Ilene's honor and kindly suggested to Holdrege Memorial Homes or the Alzheimer's Organization.
