Funeral Services for Ina M. Wilcox will be conducted from the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain DeWane Dow officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
Ina M. Wilcox, 64 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2011 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Ina was born November 19, 1946 at Gothenburg, Nebraska, the youngest of three children of William and Edna (Mills) Brestel. She received her education at Gothenburg, graduating from Gothenburg High School with the class of 1965. Following her education, Ina pursued cosmetology school in Grand Island, Nebraska.
On September 3, 1966 she was united in marriage to Gilbert R. Wilcox and to this union four children were born: Jason, Margaret, Douglas and Patricia. The family made their home in Lincoln, Nebraska until moving to Holdrege in 1973, where Ina focused her efforts on being a homemaker and raising their children. While the children were young, Ina was very involved with all their school, scouting and sporting activities.
Ina enjoyed the time spent with her family and friends, camping, canoeing, tubing and loved to play cards. Later in years, she found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Barb Cihak.
Ina leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Gil of Holdrege; four children: Jason Wilcox of Alma, Nebraska, Maggie Rief and her husband, Jason of Omaha, Nebraska, Doug Wilcox of Omaha, and Patty Maring and her husband, Brian of rural Atlanta, Nebraska; twelve grandchildren; one brother, William "Bill" Brestel and his wife, Sandy of Gothenburg; three sisters-in-law: Janice Lichtenwalter and her husband, Wayne of Lexington, Nebraska, Irene Kenning and her husband, Dennis of rural Elwood, Nebraska and Dee Kenning-Plummer and her husband, Paul Plummer of rural Elwood; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Friday, May 6, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
A memorial has been established in her memory and will be designated at a later date.
