Graveside memorial services for Iris D. Miles will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wilcox Cemetery, Wilcox, Nebraska with Pastor Rick Thomason officiating.
Iris Devonne Miles, 80 years of age, of Arapahoe, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society – C.A. Mues in Arapahoe.
Iris was born December 10, 1936 on the family farm in rural Wilcox, the daughter of Clyde Silvester and Hilda Luetta (Equall) Fulmer. Iris was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Wilcox and received her education from Wilcox Public Schools.
Following her education, Iris was united in marriage to James E. Noel on April 4, 1956. To this union two sons were born: Tracy and Troy. The family made their home in Hastings. The couple later divorced. On June 30, 1967 she was united in marriage to Leo L. Stemper at Inland, Nebraska. They moved to Holdrege. They later divorced. On October 12, 1973, Iris was united in marriage to Floyd S. Miles in Holdrege. They made their home in Oxford, Nebraska, before settling in Sumner, Nebraska on a ranch. In 1980, they began to make their home in Holdrege due to Floyd's failing health.
She was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #3132 of Holdrege and the United Methodist Church in Wilcox. Iris enjoyed riding horses and always wanted to go for one more ride.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd in 1997 and her sister-in-law, Twila Fulmer.
Iris is survived by her sons: Tracy Noel and his significant other, Mary Hockemeier of Arapahoe and Troy Noel of Holdrege; a host of grandchildren; brother, Gerald Fulmer of Franklin, Nebraska; along with extended family and friends.
The family is honoring Iris' wish for cremation. There will be no visitation or memorial book signing. A memorial has been established in Iris' honor and will be designated at a later date.
