Irma Marie Swanson

A private family memorial graveside service for Irma M. Swanson will be held at a later date at Fridhem Cemetery in rural Funk, Nebraska, with Pastor Daren Popple officiating.

Irma Marie Swanson, 87 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. Irma was born on May 21, 1937, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Morris and M. Lorene (Lund) Merchant. She received her education from Holdrege Public School, graduating with the class of 1955.

On April 18, 1959, she was united in marriage to Lauren Swanson in Grand Island, Nebraska. This union was blessed with five children: Mike, Bill, Martha, Lynn, and Lane. They made their home north of Funk, where they farmed until 1964. After moving into Holdrege, Irma was employed at Becton Dickinson until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lauren; and one son, Bill Swanson.

Left to cherish her memory include: her children: Mike Swanson; Martha Swanson; Lynn Swanson; and Lane Swanson; along with many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
