Memorial Services for Jack E. Turner will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Daren Popple officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege.

Jack Earl Turner, 84 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora, Nebraska, surrounded by his family. Jack was born May 18, 1933, in St. Joseph, Missouri, the second of four children, to Carl Cecil and LaVina Fern (Kline) Turner. He received his education in St. Joseph, and graduated from Benton High School with the class of 1951.

On June 13, 1953, he was united in marriage to Myrna G. Halpain at St. Joseph, and to this union, four children were born: Janet, Jon, Kelly and Becky.

In 1955, Jack was inducted into the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky. He served one year at Frankfort, Germany and was honorably discharged in 1957.

From 1963 to 1969, Jack owned the Hy-Klas Grocery Store in Syracuse, Nebraska. In 1969, the family moved to Holdrege, where he was employed selling cars at Strong Brothers, where he partnered with Merrill "M.C." Strong. From 1979 until 1985, the family lived in Salisbury, Missouri, where Jack owned and operated Jack Turner, Inc. selling Chevy, Pontiac and Buicks. In 1985, they returned to Holdrege, where Jack was employed at Stong Hecke Auto Villa, Robinson Motors, Gestring, and Spady's until his retirement in 1999. After his retirement, he worked part-time for Car Quest until 2012.

Jack enjoyed several hobbies over the years including: antique cars, golf, jacks and pool. He was instrumental in building the golf course in Salisbury, Missouri, loved racing go-carts, and was the St. Joe Marbles Champion. He took pride in clean cars and "Rolls Canardly." He was known for always bringing "fun" cars home from the dealership.

Besides his parents; Jack was preceded in death by his daughter, Janet Gail Schievelbein; brothers: Bob Turner, Donnie Turner; nephew-in-law, Randy West; brothers-in-law: Norman Halpain, and David Halpain; and sister-in-law, Arlene Messner.

He leaves to celebrate his life; his wife of 64 years, Myrna Turner of Holdrege; his children: Jon Turner of Holdrege, Kelly Henry and her husband, Larry of Holdrege, and Becky Neemann and her husband, Craig of Lincoln, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Sharon Turner of Lake Ozark, Missouri; sister-in-law, Darlene West of St. Joseph; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

There will be no memorial book signing or visitation as the family is honoring Jack's wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Jack's honor and kindly suggested to the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
