A Memorial Service for Jacob T. Hild will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 4511 Sixth Ave., Kearney, Nebraska, 68845, with Reverend Dr. W. Kirwin Stewart, Jr. officiating. A private inurnment will take place at a future time.
Jacob Thomas Hild, 34 years of age, of Minden, Nebraska, formerly of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at his home in Minden. Jacob was born on November 26, 1991, in Pusan City, South Korea. He was adopted and lovingly raised by Jack L. and Patricia J. (Morris) Hild. Jacob received his education from Holdrege Public Schools, graduating with the Holdrege High School class of 2010. He pursued higher education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, attaining a degree in business.
Following his education, Jacob began working at the Wellness Center at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. He made many friends and was well loved by his colleagues and members. Following a stroke in 2022, he enjoyed volunteering at the hospital as an active member in the stroke support group. He was recently honored by the Nebraska Stroke Association for his commitment and support in improving the lives of those impacted by a stroke.
Jacob was baptized at the First Presbyterian Church of Holdrege on July 19th, 1992. He was later confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church of Kearney, where he served as an Elder and youth delegate to the Presbyterian General Assembly.
Jacob enjoyed cheering for the Florida State Seminoles, watching the Food Network Challenges, and being with his friends. He loved his nieces and nephews, pets, and family gatherings.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Jake and Delores (Weimers) Hild; Tom and Dorothy (Libby) Morris; an uncle, Jake Hild; and an aunt, Rhonda Kamery.
Jacob leaves to celebrate his life: his parents, Jack and Patricia Hild of Kearney; siblings: Heather and Troy Melroy of Holdrege; David and Holly Hild of North Bend, Nebraska; Mary and Brent Reimers of Kearney; and Sarah and Matt Filbert of Kearney; nieces and nephews: Avery and Keith Vrbas of Garden City, Kansas; Addison and Branigan Schaben of Arapahoe, Nebraska; Treven Melroy of Holdrege; Alex Hild, and Collins Hild of North Bend; Hailey Filbert of Kearney; and Hudson Reimers, and Lincoln Reimers of Kearney; aunts and uncles: Mary Frazer of Aurora, Illinois; Darrell Hild of Elm Creek, Nebraska; Danny and Tammy Hild of Tribune, Kansas; Cynthia and Steve Getty of Overton, Nebraska; Deborah Cornett of Kearney; Lori and Norris Marshall of Kearney; and Lynette and Mike Mitchell of Elm Creek; along with cousins, extended family, and friends.
A Memorial Book Signing will be held on Sunday, February 1st, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, with the family greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for future designation.
