Jacobus "JP" Pienaar

A memorial service for Jacobus Pienaar will be held at a later date in South Africa.

Jacobus Johannes Petrus “Jakkie” “JP” Pienaar, 73 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026, at his home in Holdrege. Jakkie was born in Springs, South Africa, on June 3, 1953. He graduated high school in Springs, South Africa.

JP came to the United States in 2004 and became a US citizen. He worked hauling livestock with a semi. After the livestock became too much to handle for his health, he hauled grain. As a professional truck driver, he spent many years on the road, earning the respect of those who knew him through his unwavering work ethic and determination.

Jakkie lived a life marked by hard work, dedication, and a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures of life.

Outside of his work, Jakkie was a passionate sports enthusiast. He was an avid follower of rugby and cricket and rarely missed an opportunity to enjoy the excitement of Formula 1 racing. His love for sports brought him countless hours of enjoyment and provided a shared passion with family and friends.

Though we mourn his passing, we celebrate a life well lived and the memories he leaves with those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Jakkie was preceded in death by his parents.

Jakkie will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Michelle Hayward; his son, Jacques Pienaar; and his cherished grandson, Ethan Hayward. He is also remembered with affection by Mariana Erwee, the mother of his children and a lifelong friend who remained an important part of his life and family.

May he rest in peace.

There will be no visitation or memorial book signing. The family is honoring Jakkie’s wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Jakkie’s honor and is kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
