Jade Ryan Johnson

Funeral Services for Jade R. Johnson will be conducted from The Tassel in Holdrege, Nebraska on Friday, April 4, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. with Reverend Dr. Gary Winget and Pastor Brad Wiese, officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

Jade Ryan Johnson, 16 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 31, 2008 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Jade was born December 18, 1991 at Holdrege, the youngest of four children of Rick and Barb (Johnson) Johnson. Jade was baptized in the Christian Faith at the First Baptist Church in Holdrege and throughout his teenage years enjoyed being involved in Youth Group, assisted with Bible Explorers and attended Sunday School. Jade received his primary education through the eighth grade from the Johnson Family Home School with the help from his loving mother. Jade then went into the Holdrege Public School system and was currently a sophomore at Holdrege High School.

Jade was born with a heart defect and endured many surgeries throughout his life. With all his challenges faced, Jade was a constant reminder to his family of the true meaning of life and he had a special way of blessing and enriching the lives of all his family and friends each day. He always witnessed a silver lining to every cloud and he was a true miracle to his family. Jade was extremely proud to call his siblings his brother and sisters.

Jade was a member of the First Baptist Church in Holdrege, loved to hunt all seasons, enjoyed fishing any chance he could and riding his four-wheeler at Grandpa's farm. Jade also loved spending time at the YMCA, text messaging his friends, shooting his air-soft gun and loved spending time with his newest hunting companion his Black Lab, Shooter. Throughout his life he enjoyed playing soccer, basketball and in high school was active with tennis and golf.

He leaves to mourn his passing his parents: Rick and Barb Johnson; two sisters: Jessica Powley and her husband, Travis and Jordan Johnson; one brother, Jarvis Johnson all of Holdrege; paternal grandmother, Berniece Johnson of Holdrege and maternal grandparents, Allen and Betty Johnson of Holdrege; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, LaVern Johnson.

Jade will lie in state at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Thursday, April 3, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

A memorial has been established in his memory and will be designated at a later time.
