A Memorial Service for James D. Campbell will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Rev. Dr. W. Kirwin Stewart Jr. and Rev. Kayla Mangrich officiating.

James David "Jim" Campbell, 62 years of age, of Holdrege, formerly of Kearney, Nebraska passed away, on January 15, 2022, at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege. Jim was born in Kearney on April 1, 1959, the oldest of four children, born to David and Sandra (Peterson) Campbell. Jim received his primary education from the Pleasanton Public Schools in Pleasanton, Nebraska and later graduated from Pleasanton High School, with the class of 1977. He pursued higher education and received an Associate's Degree in Diesel Mechanics from Southeast Community College in Milford, Nebraska.
Following his education, Jim started his lifelong career in agriculture, he worked in various areas including: pivot maintenance and at the feedlot. Most importantly was Jim's farm and raising Aubrac cattle, he was very proud of this breed.
Jim was united in marriage to Sherri Waggoner and to this union four children were born: April, Jamie, Ashley, and Dylan. The marriage later ended in divorce.
On February 20, 1995, Jim was united in marriage to Teola Brown-Linder in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple made their home in Holdrege for several years before moving to the family farm near Kearney. Together, they worked hard on the farm.
The last four years the couple have spent most of their time at doctors' appointments trying everything they could to beat Jim's cancer once again. Shortly after Jim was diagnosed, he picked out a Siberian Huskey puppy and named her Faith, she was always by Jim's side and helped him get through the treatments. Through it all, Jim's faith grew stronger, he always stated, "Gods got me". Jim enjoyed attending the cancer support group at the First Presbyterian church.
Jim enjoyed riding motorcycles with the: Christian Motorcycle Association, Bikers for Christ, Hell Fighters, and Loup Valley Road Riders. With these groups the couple hosted and helped with several fundraisers and benefits, to help spread their love of Christ. Jim was a member of the Havens Chapel United Methodist Church near Kearney, where Jim was baptized and confirmed as a youth, and again was baptized a few years ago with his wife, Teola.
Jim was preceded in death by: his grandparents; his father, David Campbell; and mother-in-law, Elsie Brown.
Jim is survived by his wife, Teola Campbell of Kearney; his four children: April Medina of Holdrege; Jamie Hazlett and her husband, Donn of Kearney; Ashley Popple and her husband, Casey of Holdrege; and Dylan Campbell and his wife, Kelley of Grand Island, Nebraska; nine grandchildren: Gavin and Jirsie Klein; Bradie and Baron Medina; Miles and Evelyn Hazlett; Grayson, Layla, and Oakley Popple; his mother, Sandra Campbell of Hays, Kansas; brother, Dean Campbell of Blair, Nebraska; two sisters: Terri Cobb and her husband, Dell of Hays; Rena Fisher, and her husband Dana of Pleasanton; father-in-law, Charles Brown and his wife, Stephanie of Omaha; brother-in-law: Scott Brown and his wife Sheryl of Lexington, Nebraska; sister-in-law: Carrie McHarness and her husband, John of Kearney; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial book signing will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in Jim's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
