James "Jim" Traill

A memorial service for James A. Traill will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Rev. Kenton Birtell officiating.

James Arthur "Jim" Traill, 74 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at his home in Holdrege. Jim was born in Grand Island, Nebraska, on July 3, 1950, the oldest of two children, born to Richard and Marilyn (Stueben) Traill. He received his education from Holdrege Public School and graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1968. He pursued higher education and attended Hastings College, but returned home when his mother became ill.

On December 28, 1975, James was united in marriage to Pat Dore at the Circus Circus Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada, and together they shared three daughters: Stacia, Jamie, and Kelsie. Jim worked at McGill and Traill, General Electric Insurance, Ag Valley, and retired from Aurora Coop.

Jim was an outstanding athlete playing multiple sports in high school and was inducted into the Nebraska Athletic Hall of Fame. He enjoyed golfing and took time to teach his children and grandchildren.

He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, the Eagles Club, the Elks Club, and the Holdrege Country Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Kelsie Lynn Traill; and one grandson, Ethan Dean Milius.

Jim is survived by his wife, Pat Traill of Holdrege; two daughters: Stacia Milius and her husband, Mike of Kansas City, Missouri; Jamie Johnson and her husband, Mike of Holdrege; six grandchildren: Courtney Zech and her husband, Connor; Benjamin Milius; Thomas Milius; Matthew Durnal and his wife, Alli; Bailey Johnson; and Derek Johnson; one great-grandson: Elijah Zech; one brother, Greg Traill; two brothers-in-law: Ron Dore; Dave Dore and his wife, Valerie; one sisters-in-law: Jan Noble and her husband, Al; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

There will be no visitation or memorial book signing. The family is honoring James's wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in James's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
